Come on parents, you know it’s true. Parenting is hilarious. Well, it’s hilarious if we’re looking at it through the right lens. And since we parents are so exhausted and can barely see straight anyways, I think it makes a lot of sense to look at it through the right lens. Otherwise, it could be painful.
This one is hilarious. We all know what it’s like trying to get our kids out the door. Well, there was this time when my wife and I were rushing our kids out the door so we wouldn’t be late again. When we finally arrived at our destination, late again anyway, my little girl announces in her loudest voice, in front of everyone, that her daddy put on two different shoes just like she does sometimes.
I looked down and she was right. I was wearing two different sneakers. While rushing around that morning on no sleep again, and keeping my eyes on the kids, I had inadvertently grabbed two different sneakers. I tied my shoes while eyeballing my kids and telling them to move faster so we wouldn’t be late again.
Oh well… I guess we parents try to be all grown up, but sometimes we just can’t help but look like, act like, and feel like some kind of confused little kid wearing two different shoes.
You haven’t done that one yet? Someday you will. Hey, I have a bunch more of these little screw ups of mine as a parent that has made me often look like some funny little helpless kid, instead of a fully grown competent and serious adult parent. I probably have enough stories to fill a book.
Now, as my Granddaddy always said, “Go learn, lead, and lay the way to a better world for all of us.” Parents, make sure you use the right lens when looking at your own parenting prowess, because if you do, then it is truly hilarious. If you don’t, it might truly hurt instead. And once again parents, thanks in advance for all that you do, and all that you will do…
